LADY SENATORS REACH ELITE EIGHT; FALL TO EVENTUAL NATIONAL RUNNER-UPS

Walters State entered the national tournament with a #12 seed and went 2-1, falling to Trinity Valley in the "Elite Eight" of the tournament.  

The Lady Senators opened play in the nightcap on the first day of play as they defeated  #21 North Dakota SCS 80-43.  They would place four players in double figures with Gazzmyne Herndon leading the way with 17 points.  Sara Vujacic would finish with 12 points, Diamond Forrest with 11, and Jessica Wallis with 10.  Herndon would also collect 11 rebounds and pass out 10 assists in the contest.  

Walters would pull an upset in their second game as they defeated #3 seed Cochise in the round of 16, 57-54.  Vujacic would be the only lady in double figures with 16 points including two free throws late in the game to ice the outcome.  Oneisha Turner would pull down 7 rebounds joined by Herndon with six to go along with four assists.

In their final game, they met a Trinity Valley team on a mission. They had been given a #20 seed, but finished the season ranked #15 in the national poll right behind Walters.  The Lady Senators would be outscored 44-17 in the middle quarters to cruise to a 77-44 win.  Vujacic would again be the only Walters player in double figures with 15 points.
