All four of the top seeds asdvanced this past weekend to the "Final Four" in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament starting this Sunday at Volunteer State. Top seeds Volunteer and Chattanooga as well as Walters State swept their opponents on the first day while Dyersburg defeated Columbia in a deciding game after splitting their first two games.
Host Volunteer State defeated Southwest Tennessee by scores of 4-0 and 5-0 to earn their spot. Sidney Link and Abbey Woodall threw seven and four hits shutouts to pace the Lady Pioneers.
Chattanooga State defeated Roane State by scores of 12-0 and 6-1. The Lady Tigers blaste four home runs on the day while racking up 20 hits to eliminate the Lady Raiders.
Walters State would hits five home runs in tow games as they swept Cleveland State by scores of 11-3 and 12-0. The Lady Senators would amass 29 hits in the two games while the Lady Cougars were held to only five hits.
Columbia State would win the first game of the series with Dyersburg State by a 4-1 score before the Lady Eagles would even the series with a 10-1 win in game two. The third game saw five lead changes. Columbia would take a 10-8 lead in the top of the seventh with three runs, but Dyersburg would answer with three of their own to claim the deciding win.
The tournament is schedule to start on Sunday at noon with Volunteer State taking on Walters State. At 3 p.m., Chattanooga State will face Dyersburg State. all game times will be CST.
