CHATTANOOGA STATE SEES SEASON END IN SOUTHEAST A DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
PETERSBURG, VA – Chattanooga State's successful volleyball season came to an end on Friday afternoon in the Southeast A District Championship.
Taking on No. 6 Richard Bland, Chattanooga State battled tough in all three sets but fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22).
Chattanooga State charged out to a 14-10 lead in the opening set, forcing a timeout by Richard Bland. The lead ballooned to 18-13 for the Lady Tigers, but Richard Bland caught fire from there to take the opening set.
In set two, Chattanooga State trailed 17-11 before scoring six of the next seven points to make it 18-17. Chattanooga State then tied the set at 19, 21 and 22, but Richard Bland scored the final three points to take a 2-0 lead.
Set three saw Chattanooga State rally again, cutting a 22-14 deficit 22-19 with five straight. Richard Bland broke the run, but Chattanooga State would not go away as they scored two straight to make it 23-21. Richard Bland scored the next point to get match point. The Lady Tigers fought off one match point, but that was all.
Chattanooga State ended the season at 19-10. They were Region 7 Runner Up's and Southeast A District Runner Up's.
