TCCAA announces 2025-26 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Special Awards
GALLATIN, TN – The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association announced its 2025-26 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Special Awards on Sunday during the TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament at Volunteer State Community College.
Walters State's Terryauna Griffin was named the TCCAA Player of the Year, as well as the TCCAA Offensive Player of the Year. Southwest Tennessee's Shani Clark was awarded the TCCAA Defensive Player of the Year, and Motlow State's Sable Winfree was the TCCAA Freshman of the Year. Walters State's Jasmin Coleman was the TCCAA Coach of the Year.
Griffin was named TCCAA Co-Offensive and Freshman of the Year last year and followed it up with another impressive season in 2025-26. Griffin led the league, and was third in the country, in points per game, averaging 21.7. Griffin scored 563 points in 26 games, made 54 3-pointers and totalled 71 steals.
On February 18, Griffin broke the Walters State All-Time scoring record, and she currently sits at 1,088 points. During her sophomore season, Griffin scored double digits in 24 of 26 games, 20+ points in 12 games and 30+ points in eight games. Griffin had a stretch from January 14 to February 7 where she totaled 160 points in five games.
Named the TCCAA Defensive Player of the Year, Clark led the league, and was fourth in the country, in blocks with 84. Clark had 75 of those blocks come in TCCAA play and averaged 3.7 blocks per game. Clark had seven blocks against Chattanooga State on November 22, nine against Cleveland State on January 10 and six against Walters State on February 9. Clark had five or more blocks in seven games. Along with blocks, Clark averaged 11 rebounds per game and had 168 defensive rebounds.
Winfree earned Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 16.2 points per game. Winfree was fourth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 50.3%, fifth in the conference in assists with 98 and led the conference in steals with 75. Winfree had four double-doubles on the season, and her best game came on November 28 against Albany Tech when she finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Her season-high in points was November 29 against South Georgia Tech, finishing with 37 points.
Coleman was named Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her six-year coaching career. This season, Coleman's Lady Senators went 24-2, with both losses coming to top-ranked teams, and finished a perfect 20-0 in TCCAA play. It's the first time Walters State has finished unbeaten in TCCAA play since the 2018-19 season. The Lady Senators were TCCAA Regular Season Champions and are currently the No. 4 ranked team in the country.
Making All-TCCAA First Team were Walters State's Griffin, Nyjah Gibbs and Raegan Starks, Columbia State's Lily Melton, Volunteer State's Jaydah Rainey, Chattanooga State's Layla Bouldin, Jackson State's Hannah Johnson, Motlow State's Winfree, Dyersburg State's Rebecca Wood and Southwest Tennessee's Clark and Jamiyah Jones.
Named to the All-TCCAA Second Team were Cleveland State's Sloan Pender and Mar'Nazha Houston, Motlow State's Emma Sazanov and Ayan Ali, Volunteer State's Lanaya Young, Pellissippi State's Maiya Moore, Columbia State's Niana Hill and Kelsey Keiler, Jackson State's Mashawna Ridley and Roane State's Kyree Patrick.
Also honored were the Lady Senators of Walters State. They were the recipients of the James Cigliano Trophy which is awarded each year to the TCCAA Regular Season Winner. The Lady Seantors were a perfect 20-0 in the conference this year.
