WALTERS EXPLODES AGAIN; DEFEATS CENTRAL FLORIDA

The Senators saw themselves down early again in their contest with Central Florida, but exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 16-8 win in eight innings.  This moves Walters a step closer to the national title.  They will play the winner of Vrowder and Wabash Valley in a winner's bracket game on Wednesday.

Their opponents scored two runs in the first, but the Senators would tie it in the bottom of the second as Noah Gent scored on an infield groundout, and Kory Klingenbeck scored on a Dalton McClain single.  Central Florida would then take the lead over the next two innings 5-2 going into the bottom of the fourth.  Walters would put up seven runs as Gent would score the first run again on a fielder's choice.  Caleb Marmo would single dow the right field line to score both Kligenbeck and Ott to tie the game.  McClain and Marmo would score on a bases load single by Nick Block to take the lead for good.  Colby Backus would hit a sac fly to score McNeely, and Block would score on a Gent double to finish the scoring in the inning.  

Central Florida would respond in the top of the fifth with three runs to get within one at 9-8, but the Senators answered with two of their own as Klingenbeck would triple and score on an error.  Then McClain would score on a McNeely double.  They would add four more in the eventh as Ott would score on a McNeely sac fly.  Colby Backus would single to drive in two runs in McClain and Marmo.  He would then score when Gent singled to right field.  They would end the game with one ot in the eighth inning as McClain would score his fourth run of the game on pinch hitter Cole McCallum's single.

Gent and McClain each had three hits in the Senators' 16 hit attack.  McClain and Corbin Shaw both had two hits in the contest.  Backus had three RBIs while McNeely Block, Gent, and Marmo each drove in two runs.  Joey Mitchell got the win in relief of starter Kohl Drake.  Mitchell went 4 1/3 innings, surrendering three earned runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  Drake wen the first 3 2/3 innings.  He gave up five earned runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
