WALTERS STAYS UNDEFEATED WITH 8-3 WIN OVER WABASH VALLEY
Walters Stateq edged close to a national title as they defeated Wabash Valley 8-3 Wednesday night. The Senators will face Cowley this evening; who has advanced through their part of the losers' bracket.
The Senators found themselves down early again as Wabash scored a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Walters took the lead with three runs in the scond, and never looked back. Corbin Shaw and Andrew Ott both singled. With one out, Dalton McClain would single up the middle to score Shaw to tie the game. then with the bases loaded later in the inning, Caleb McNeely would single to drive in Ott and McClain. They would add three more in the fourth as Nick Block would single to left field with the bases loaded again.. The hit would drive in Ott and McClain, and when the leftfielder misplayed the ball, McNeely would score the third run. The Senators would close out their scorin in the fifth when Noah Gent would walk before Shaw would drive the ball over the right field wall for a two run home run.
Walters had ten hits in the game, led by Block's three single and two RBIs. McNeely, shaw, and Ott each had twwo hits in the game with McNeely and Shaw each driving in two runs. Wesley Scott got the win as he went the first seven innings. He allowed three earned runs on eight hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Landon Crumbley went the final two innings, allowing no runs on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
