BASEBALL REGULAR SEASON AWARDS ANNOUNCED

During this years NJCAA Region VII/TCCAA Baseball Tournament, the 2022 Regular Season All-Conference teams were announced along with the presentation of Pitcher, Player, and coach of the Year.  Walters State was also recognizeed as the 2022 regular season champions.  All the awards were decided by a vote of the league coaches.

Making up the All-Conference first team in the infield were first baseman Jared Emory of Chattanooga State, second baseman Cam Grimes of Chattanooga State, third baseman Noah Gent of Walters State, shortstops Caleb McNeely of Walters State & JD Dayt of Motlow State.  First team outfielders were Haven Mangrum of Colmbia State, Colby Backus of Walters State, and Nick Block of Walters State.  Abbot Lawrence of Columbia State was the first team designated hitter, and Kory Klingenbeck of Walters State was the first team catcher.  Kohl Drake & Jake Knapp of Walters State, Grant Burleson of Columbia State, and Colton Brumley of Southwest Tennessee were first team starting pitchers along with Geo Rivera of Walters State as relief pitcher.

Tjhe second team infielders were first baseman Cam Madding of Volunteer State, second baseman Joey Parliament & third baseman Wade Richardson both from Columbia State, and shortstop Griffin clark of Chattanooga State.  The second team outfield consisted of Haiden Hunt of Chattanooga State, Andy Martin of dyersburg State, and Simms Owens of Motlow State.  The second team designated hitter was Kruise Newman of Walters State, and Logan Smith of Chattanooga State was the second team catcher.  Columbia State's Chase Nelson, Walters State's Wesley Scott, and Cleveland State's Bryce Jenins were the second team starting pitchers with Cleveland State's Bryce Houghton was the second team relief pitcher.

Walters State swept the individual awards as Drake was named Pitcher of the Year, McNeely was named Player of the Year, and Head Coach Dave Shelton was named Coach of the Year.
