WALTERS STATE PLACES FOUR ON ALL-AMERICAN LIST

Walters State had four baseball players named NJCAA All-Americans this past week.  Topping the list was pitcher Kohl Drake and infielder Caleb McNeely who were named to the first team.  Outfielder Colby Backus was named to the second team while pitcher Jake Knapp was named to the third team.

Drake, a sophomore pitcher, went 14-0 this past seaason.  He had a 1.93 ERA, surrendering 20 earned runs in 93.1 innings.  He had 160 strikeouts to go with 17 walks while surrendering 62 hits.  He had 5 complete games on the season and a perfect fielding percentage.

McNeely, a sophomore infielder, hit .388 this season with 12 doubles, four triples, and 26 home runs.  He had 79 RBIs with 23 stolen bases.  His on base percentage was .507 with a slugging percentage of .810.  He had an .899 fielding percentage as he committed 20 errrs in his 199 chances at shortstop.

Backus, a freshman outfielder, had a .384 batting average with 17 doulbes, two triples, and 19 home runs this past year.  He had 75 RBIs with an on base percentage of .446 and a .720 slugging percentage.  His fielding percentage as .948 as he had three errors in 58 total chances.

Knapp, a sophomore pitcher, was 14-1 this season with n ERA of 2.40 as he surrendered 22 earned runs in 82.2 innings.  He struck out 113 batters with 25 walks and surrendering only 60 hits.  He had 3 complete games with a perfect fielding percentage.
