WALTERS DROPS GAME AGAINST JOHNSON COUNTY 12-7
Walters State lost Monday night to the #1 seed Johnson County by a 12-7 final. Johnson exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning to secure the win. The loss drops Walters overall record to 53-12.
Walters would take a 3-0 lead in the to of the first on a three run home run by Kenny Cox, scoring Kole Fenton and Holden Pantier ahead of him. Johnson would answer with their own three run home run in the bottom of the inning. Miles shore would score Cox in the top of the fourth inning to tie the score at 4 apiece. Johnson would take the lead for good as they scored eight runs on seven hits in the inning. Fenton would score on a wild pitch in the fifth inning while Drew Blalock would drive in the final two runs. A groundout would score Brady Dalton in the fifth and then hit a solo home run in the eighth for the final run.
The Senators had eight hits in the game with Cox adding a double for two hits. Fenton would have two singles in the game. Brady Scott (6-1) took the loss on the mound for Walters. He went the first 3 1/3 innings giving up 10 earned runs on nine hits. He had three walks and two strieouts.
Next up for Walters is a matchup today with the #3 seed Midland College. Midland was upset in the first round by Wabash Valley 11-6, but rebounded ad advanced with a 9-3 win over Salt Lake CC. Game time is set for today at 4pm EDT.
