The Southwest Tennessee Saluquis ran into a hot team on the first day of the NJCAA Men's National Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson (KS) in the form of Coffeyville. The Ravens swould shoot 55.4% from the field compared to Southwest's 39.0% on the way to an 89-62 win. The Saluquis saw their season end with an 11-5 overall record in this unusual season.
Coffeyville took the leasd for good midway through the first half, and went on a 22-8 run to close out the half leading by a 40-27 margin. The Saluquis could get no closer than 12 points in the second half, and then Coffeyville exploded to build a 76-43 lead with nine minutes to go in the game. Two key stats that stood out were that the Ravens had 34 points to the Saluquis 13 off of turnovers, and that coffeyville's bench utscored the Southwest bench 40-6.
Southwest had three scorers reach double figures in the game led by Jamey Sanders with 23 points to go with a team high ten rebounds. Brandon mason and Eric Johnson would follow with 13 points and 11 points, respectively.
