WALTERS CLAIMS GOLF'S SOUTHEAST DISTRICT; CLEVELAND'S MCCARVER IS MEDALIST
The NJCAA Division II Golf Southeast District was held at the Country Club of Bristol this past Monday and Tuesday. Walters State was crowned champion as they were 17 over par for the three rounds. Both Roane State and Cleveland State also qualified as teams for the national tournament by posting scores of +19 and +26 for their three rounds. Cleveland's Andrew McCarrver was low medalist as he was 5 under for the tournament, and Pellissippi State's Nohg Whitten qualified as an individual with a 4 over par.
Walters State was led by Bowen Brantley with a three round total of 213 (even). Nick Talley was next with a 219 (+6), Alex Gaetz & Sloan Brooks both with a222 (+9), and Blake Woody with a 223 (+10).
Roane State was led by Noah Cambridge & Colby Johnson who posted a 209 (-4). Eric Loftis was the only other Raider to play three rounds and he posted a 230 (+17) for his three rounds. Eric Loftis played the first and third rounds and posted a 156 (+14), Braden Beverage played the 2nd and 3rd rounds with a 154 (+12), and Jetson Murell played the first two rounds with a 158 (+16).
Cleveland State was led by McCarver's medalist performance followed by Carson Minish with 224 (+11). Next was Kadyn Copeland & Seth Moore both with a 226 (+13), and Carson Miles with a 228 (+15).
Whitten would lead Pellissippi with his individual performance. Kevin Campbell would post a 220 (+7) followed by Griffen Shipley & Nathan Pierce both with a 233 (+20). Elijah Backus would finish with a 247 (+34).
The 2025 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship will be held May 20-23 at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
