TCCAA/NJCAA REGION VII VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT SET FOR THURSDAY
The TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Volleyball Tournament os set to start at 1pm EST on Thursday on the campus of Walters State Community College. There will be three games on that day as #1 Cleveland State receives a bye into the Friday semifinals.
The first match of the day will be between #4 seed Walters State and the #5 seed Jackson State. The teams split their regular season matchups with Jackson winning 3-2 at Jackson early this season while Walters won the rematch 3-0 on their home court. Walters finished the regular season with a 12-16 mark while Jackson finished the season with a 21-11 overall record. Both teams were 6-6 in conference play.
The second match of the day will see #2 seed Chattanooga state face the #7 seed dyersburg State. Chattanooga won both matches during the season, both by identical 3-0 finals. Chattanooga finished the regular season with a 17-7 oerall record while Dyersburg was 1-22 in their inaugural season. Chattanooga had a 9-3 conference record while Dyersburg was 0-12.
The final match of the day will be #3 seed Pellissippi State taking on #6 seed Roane State. Pellissippi won both regular season matches, winning both by 3-1 scores. Pellissippi finished the regular season with a 16-10 record while Roane ended the season with a 6-20 record. Pellissippi had a 7-5 conference record while Roane finished the season 2-10.
The semifinals for the tournament are scheduled for Friday, starting at 1pm EST. The first match will see the winner of the Walters/Jackson match facing top seed Cleveland State. the second match will see the winners of the other two matches in the second semifinal. The championship is scheduled for Saturday at 1pm EST.
