On Friday afternoon, Pellissippi State saw their season continue as they won the Southeastern District B Championship with a 3-0 victory over Fayetteville Tech CC. In the opening match, Cleveland State saw their season comes to an end as they were defeated by Davidson-Davie CC in the Southeastern District A Championship by a 3-0 final.
Pellissippi advances to the NJCAA Division II National championship being held at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids (IA) beginning on November 19.
PELLISSIPPI 3 - FAYETTEVILLE TECH 0
In their match against Fayetteville, they completed the sweep by scores of 25-17, 25-14, & 25-23. They saw their overall record increase to 21-10 with the win.
Yevdokiya Glushchenko and Natalie Knight led the way with 12 and 11 kills in the match. Miley Presnell and Emma Kate Pierce each finished with seven while Savanna Anderson finished the day with six kills. Devyn Dunn had 34 assists in the win with two service aces. Grayson Jones led the way with five service aces.
Jones would lead the team with 17 digs. Glushchenko would add nine while Addison Deitz had seven and Morgan Brown six in the win. Glushchenko and Anderson each would have two block assists in the match.
DAVIDSON-DAVIE 3 - CLEVELAND 1
Cleveland was able to win the third set of the match after dropping the first two sets of the match. The scores were 25-17, 25-21, 14-25, & 25-21. Cleveland season ends with a 23-4 overall record.
Zowee Dillard and aaliyah Rodgers led the attack for the Cougars. Dillard had 16 kills while Rodgers had eleven in the match. Elanee Cotter would finish with seven kills. Piper Bowers would out 28 assists on the day. Rodgers, Megan Crocker, and Isabella Messer each would have a service ace.
Messer would lead the way with 29 digs in the contest. Rodgers would have 16 while Crocker would finish with ten. Caroline Church would have a solo block plus four block assists. Kennedy Caudill would join Rodgers, Bowers, and Dillard with two block assists.
