PELLISSIPPI, COLUMBIA, ROANE ADVANCE TO SOCCER SEMIS

In the first round of the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Women's Soccer Tournament, Pellissippi  and Columbia State both easily advanced while Roane State won a tough 1-0 match against Southwest Tennessee.  Pellissippi State ousted Dyersburg State by an 8-0 final while Columbia State cruised to a 12-0 win over Chattanooga State.  Roane will advance to play top seed Motlow State while Columbia will travel to Pellissippi for the other match.

Pellissippi had 64 shots on goal in their match against Dyersburg.  Jada Stuart had three goals on the day followed by Julia Altheden with two goals.  In all, nine Panthers would score a goal in the contest.  Leah Mendoza would have two assists in the match.  Julia Olsson and Julie Van De Veen pitched a shutout at the net.

Columbia had 48 shots on goal in their match against Chattanooga.  Eva Galloway, Rory Curtis, and Addison Alexander each had two goals in the contest while Lillie Johanning had three assists.  Rory Burgess had the shutout in goal for the Chargers.

In the closest match of the first round, Roane's Emma Leander would score right before the end of the first half on an assist from Zoey Rose for the only goal of the night.  Southwest Tennessee's Tasmin Burgess would save five of the Raiders' six shot on goals, but Roane's Addison Roberts would stop all seven shots on goal from the Saluquis for the shutout.

Both semifinal matches will take place oon Wednesday with the match between Roane and Motlow starting at 3pm CST while the Columbia and Pellissippi match will take place at 7pm EST.
